Employers often ask about giving Comp Time (future time off) to employees instead of paying them overtime.  For non-exempt private-sector employees, there is no such thing as comp time (at least comp time that goes beyond the workweek in question—in other words, if any employee works lots of hours Monday and Tuesday of week 1, they can take off some time [or apply hours] at the end of week 1; but they cannot carry them into week 2+).  The confusion often comes from the fact that public sector employees can receive comp time in lieu of OT.
